What does PLAION claim, and which formats are excluded?

PLAION describes redesigned ASIC hardware with HDMI and AV outputs. It claims compatibility with original and new AES cartridges; its Metal Slug page states that the new cart works on both machines. These are manufacturer claims, not independent testing of every board revision.

MVS is arcade hardware and cannot establish a retail home AES cartridge. SNK describes NEOGEO CD as a later system replacing ROM cartridges with CD-ROMs: a CD package is not an AES cartridge purchase and stays out of this calculator. Some controllers share a connector; that does not make CD discs into AES carts. Check authenticity, edition and condition when buying used.
